Fauci Cites SERIOUS PROBLEMS with the COVID-19 But White House Lowers the Alert

MIAMI – June 27: Texas and Florida close bars due to record increases in COVID-19 infections. This is the time President Donald Trump spent on the coronavirus in the half-hour he spoke Thursday on his visit to Marinette, Wisconsin.

“It came from China and has hit 188 countries, this is not good”, a phrase that sums up that minute. The rest, of course, he dedicated to his hyperbolic success and the looming historical recovery.

President Trump canceled the vacation weekend trip to his Bedminster, New Jersey, the mansion on Friday. The White House did not offer explanations for that program change. But it coincided with a flare-up of criticism in his management of the coronavirus / COVID-19.

After pressing for economic reopening, some of those states that first implemented their orders, especially in the south, are experiencing a very significant rebound in cases.

If there was a national record of cases in one day on Wednesday, that mark was exceeded on Thursday with more than 40,000. The total number of cases stands at around 2.5 million and the death toll at 125,000.

This situation led to the government team fighting the Covid-19 meeting again for the first time in almost two months.

The call was held at the headquarters of the Department of Health and without the unexplained absence of Trump, who continues without paying attention to that rebound.

President Trump cancels his weekend in New Jersey but continues to ignore the impact of Covid-19

The subsequent press conference showed the two speeds that exist in that team. Vice President Mike Pence, despite not being able to deny “precipitous growth” in southern states, played the card that “we have slowed contagion” and that “remarkable progress has been made.”

He insisted that the hospitalized now represent only 5% of the sick, up from 50% two months ago. He noted that in April there were about 2,500 deaths daily and this week there have been a couple of days when it did not exceed 300. But he forgot that there have been another couple of days in which the mortality has been above or near the thousand.

Pence won trumpism, “We must respect freedom of expression and the right to a peaceful assembly enshrined in our Constitution,” he replied to the reason why the President continues to do political acts. In addition, he refused to criticize Trump for not wearing the mask, an issue he attributed to the fact that the guide corresponds to “local and state authorities.”

According to Pence, all 50 states have opened “safely and responsibly.” In 36, things are going well, he reiterated, while in 14 there has been a destabilization, which he attributed to greater test capacity. “An encouraging news is that 44% of new infections correspond to people aged 35 and under.”

Unlike the vice president, epidemiologist Anthony Fauci offered a much more nuanced view.” In certain areas, it is doing well, but we are seeing serious problems and certain places, which may have an impact in other areas,” he said. The leading infection expert recalled that Covid-19 is not an isolated thing. “If these vulnerable areas are not stopped, they will make others vulnerable,” he said.

This new expansion of the pathogen has caused Texas and Florida, two Republican fiefdoms praised by Trump, to back down on the reopening of bars and restaurants.

They are two of the three states (California has sneaked in between), where the spread of infection is greatest in 72 hours.

Greg Abbott, Texan governor, ordered that all bars be closed on Friday starting at noon, although they could handle takeaway orders.

The restaurants saw their operating capacity reduced to 50% of their capacity, and not 75%. Although Florida Governor Ron DeSantis resisted, he eventually relented and quarantined the bars.
